Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran was a businesswoman, investor and speaker from the United America. The Corcoran Group was a New York City real estate brokerage that she founded. NRT purchased it for $66million in 2001. Corcoran later left the business. Corcoran is among ABC's original Shark Tank investors. To date she has appeared in each season of Shark Tank. As of February 2020 she had closed 53 deals. The most significant of these was a $350,000 investment to Coverplay at 40%. Corcoran was born in Edgewater, New Jersey, the second of 10 children from a working class Irish Catholic family. Florence Corcoran was Florence's mom and was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father. He was a mover between jobs and the next during Corcoran’s childhood. The family relied on food deliveries from the local grocer who would deliver free food. Corcoran remembers her father as a drunkard who sometimes treated her mother with contempt and disrespect, especially after having consumed alcohol. Corcoran was a struggle in school, and was later told that she was dyslexic. Corcoran started high school at St. Cecilia High School Englewood after having attended a Catholic elementary school. Corcoran was proficient in a variety of courses her freshman year. She was transferred to Leonia High School and graduated with a D.
