Kyra Minturn

Kyra Minturn Sedgwick (born August 19, 1965) is an American actor, producer and director. She is most famous for her leading role as Deputy Chief Brenda Leigh Johnson on the TNT crime drama The Closer. Sedgwick received two Emmy Awards in 2010 and 2007 for her portrayal Johnson. The series ended following its seventh season. Sedgwick is also well-known for her role in the show as Madeline Wuntch on the sitcom Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Sedgwick received nominations for an Golden Globe award for her performance in Something to Talk About (1995). Sedgwick's film credits include Oliver Stone's Born on the Fourth of July (1989) as well as Cameron Crowe's Solos (1992), Heart and Souls (93), Phenomenon (2000) as well as What's cooking (2000) and Secondhand Lions (2003). The actress also appeared in The Game Plan (2007) and The Possession (2012). Sedgwick was an New York City native, the daughter Patricia Rosenwald (nee Rosenwald) was an educator and family therapist and Henry Dwight Sedgwick VI, the venture capitalist. Her mother was Jewish. Her father was Episcopalian and with English origin. Sedgwick has declared publicly her Jewish roots and stated that she takes part in Passover seders.
